Double-twisted wire mesh is a hexagonal wire mesh woven from low-carbon galvanized steel wires by a double-twisting machine. The twisting length of the steel wires ranges from 30mm to 60mm.
Double-twisted wire mesh can be made into mesh rolls, mesh cages or mesh mats, which are used for river regulation with stone filling, soil retaining and slope protection, and bank slope anti-erosion. It can also be used as aquaculture fencing and land enclosure fencing. Additionally, it can be applied in pavements for pavement reinforcement to improve pavement performance.
Double-twisted wire mesh features resistance to reflective cracks and rutting. It can significantly enhance the tensile capacity of asphalt pavements and improve their crack resistance.
It has a certain three-dimensional mesh structure. Asphalt mixture passes through the meshes to achieve good bonding between upper and lower layers, which helps the mixture fully wrap the mesh surface and ensures interlocking with aggregates. The wire mesh forms cells that provide excellent lateral confinement for the asphalt mixture filled inside, and mechanical interlocking is formed between the meshes and the asphalt mixture. When the asphalt mixture is fully compacted, it will inevitably increase load transfer capacity, reduce pavement deformation, and exhibit better rutting resistance.
